Gaining Organic Engagement

Ever wonder what makes companies choose certain people to send PR packages to? Other than a lot of followers, what makes certain people stand out to brands? I am here to teach you what they look for and how to get it!

I follower a particular blogger, and she has been apart of so many campaigns, collaborations, and ambassador programs that it is insane. She gets free stuff in the mail daily, and the majority of the free items are high quality products that she actually uses. Want to learn how she built herself up to a position like that? Keep reading!

1. She valued organic engagement.

A good blogger or business owner knows how valuable organic engagement is. This means you're not buying likes or followers, you're not participating in a comment pod (a group of people committed to commenting on each others posts), and you don't have to do constant giveaways to promote followers. If you're experiencing organic engagement on your social media platform, chances are you are also growing your business/blog along the way.

2. She followed to valuable accounts

Following an account just to go back and unfollow them is not the best way to gain organic engagement. I've said it once, and I'll say it again; following to go back and unfollow is against Instagram's guidelines and it can get your account put on hold. Bloggers who seem to "have it all" just know that following quality content is a great way to inspire yourself to be better.

3. BRAND, BRAND, BRAND

If you're a blogger, you are your own brand. Not only am I a blogger, but I am a business owner. My face is literally my business. This means I have to specially curate my content while keeping a realistic lifestyle to ensure that future clients believe in me. Back to the PR mail concept. Companies send PR to people because they want future clients to see that their products are compatible with various lifestyles. They are piggybacking off of somebody else's brand to reach more clients.

4. What type of Engagement do I need?

Instagram has changed in the last few years. The algorithm is so different than what it was 5 years ago. If you can't learn to "beat" the algorithm, your account may not be seen as much. This was my struggle until I learned a few secrets.
  1. Comments are more valuable than likes now. If someone takes the time to comment on your post, this means they are more interested in your content. Instagram takes notice of this and bumps your content higher up into the algorithm. Try to remember this when achieving organic growth. (DO NOT USE COMMENT PODS)
  2. If people are saving your posts, Instagram automatically thinks that means they want to see more. This means they boost your post higher into the recent feed. Be sure you are providing followers with carefully curated posts that make them want to save it for later. This could be a cute outfit, great business tip, or even a powerful caption that truly spoke to them.
  3.  Why do you think Instagram created story tools? They want users to use them in a meaningful way that their followers enjoy. This can be tricky if you don't know why you should use them. I typically use them when releasing new spray tanning products to clients, or when I need to figure out if people are interested in something like a tanning party.

I hope you enjoyed this little blog post that hopefully teaches you how to get some organic engagement!
